We recently interviewed Neil Doveton, fashion editor, menswear specialist, blogger and editor of MrDoveton.com, a fashion and style portal for men, in celebration of the meal on the Autumn Menu named after him – the Fettuccine with boerewors, pomodoro, cream and Grana Padano.
Any memories you would like to share about Societi Bistro?
My every memory of Societi Bistro is a warm one – where friendships are forged, palates piqued and hospitality unrivaled. I know in my heart that I will always have a good time and feel special at Societi Bistro.
What is your favourite leisure activity?
I love ambling around flea-markets and thrift shops – I can get lost in a world of other peoples junk for hours – reminiscing eras long gone and discovering gems for my home or wardrobe.
What was your dream job when you were growing up?
Anything to do with style or fashion. I used my piggy bank savings at the age of seven to buy my first tie – admittedly a garish purple clip-on seventies one but tres chic at the time!
One of your most inspiring experiences in your career to date?
Attending the Milan Menswear collections many times has afforded me a smorgasbord of inspiring memories. The dearest? I once mustered the courage to occupy an abandoned front-row seat at a Vivienne Westwood show just seconds before it began – I grew up idolising Ms. Westwood so to find myself a mere arms-length from her on the runway was a moment I’ll always cherish.
How do you feel about appearing on the Societi Bistro menu and the Mr Doveton in particular?
Delighted! And such a saucy dish – after all there's nothing quite like boerewors.
What is your favourite food to indulge in?
Anything I haven’t had to prepare myself. And of course – everything prepared by Societi Bistro.
