The 2015 Societi Bistro Winter Menu features the Aimee Eveleigh, a vegan Thai curry with winter vegetables, cauli-rice and pawpaw salsa, named after the popular 2oceansvibe Radio producer and presenter.

We recently had the opportunity to ask Aimee a few questions over lunch at Societi Bistro.


What is your profession?

Radio Journalist and Producer, Presenter of The #WhatTheFoodShow on 2oceansvibe Radio & The Abstract AIMEE Show. I'm also a Food & Wine Writer for 2oceansvibe and a Health & Nutrition Guru . I have a business which offers advice to woman who struggle with their weight by giving them the knowledge they need to turn their lives around and change their lifestyles PERMANENTLY!


What was your dream job when you were growing up?

I wanted to be an Astronaut!

What does a typical day in your working life look like?

I spend my mornings producing my radio shows, meeting with guests who I need to interview and in the afternoons I spend my time writing articles about all the amazing experiences I have all over the Cape at various wine estates and restaurants!

What was your most inspiring interview in your career to date?

I would have to say when I had the opportunity to do a one-on-one interview with Duff Mkagan, bassist of Guns 'N Roses!

What is your favourite question to ask a prospective employee?

Usually when I look for people to assist me in my career I ask them if they are insane - because you have to be slightly mad to work in the media!

What is your favourite leisure activity?

I am a social being, so for me leisure is about spending time with family and friends and of course cooking for my boyfriend Matt! Anything that revolves around food and being in the company of people I love.

Who is your favourite South African designer?

I am a HUGE fan of Kirsten Goss. Kirsten is an incredible, edgy and overly-talented bespoke Jewellery Designer operating out of Cape Town & London, and her designs typically match with any high-fashion look that I happen to be emulating on a day-to-day basis.

How do you feel about appearing on the Societi Bistro menu and the Vegan Thai Curry in particular?

I LOVE that I have been chosen to be represented on the Societi Bistro menu - more specifically, the fact that it's my name on a dish that is nutritionally what I would endorse to women who are trying to be healthy and conscious of their waist-lines, makes me very happy!

What is your favourite food to indulge in?

If I'm having a cheat day, then nothing beats proper old-fashioned fish and chips from one of those Portuguese corner shops that gives you your meal all wrapped up in newspaper! And my favourite way to eat fish and chips is with loads of salt and vinegar and that cheap "Farm Girl" tomato sauce that stains your fingers red!

Any memories you would like to share about Societi Bistro?

Societi's Chef's make great boyfriends but Societi unfortunately doesn't let staff drink on the job. JOKING! Um, I would have to say that for me my favourite Societi Bistro memory was when I got to meet Helen Zille outside one sunny day and she invited me to sit with her and have a cup of tea at her table! She is my heroine and I always associated Societi Bistro with bumping into influential people who inspire and amaze me.
